I Use Many Psychological Techniques to Help Clients
As an Advanced Hypnotherapist, I use as many psychological techniques as possible to ensure a client receives the most effective course of therapy.
Unless a client asks about a specific method of psychology (for example, CBT - cognitive behavioural therapy or NLP - neuro-linguistic programming), they may not be aware that I use different psychological tools during their sessions and, to be honest, they don''t really need to know how I am helping them to overcome their problem!
During the initial consultation with a client I decide on a plan or course of action to take and then I review this plan before every session with the client to ensure I am following the best possible course of action. Obviously, every course of therapy is different depending on the issues or illnesses a client presents, but on average it takes between 4 - 6 one hour sessions of Advanced Hypnotherapy to help a client overcome their problems. The number of sessions needed can be drastically reduced by the client listening more often to the CDs I provide between the sessions - the more often they listen the faster their progress.
Here are some of the therapeutic methods I use:
HypnoHealing is a technique of hypnotherapy that deals directly with physical problems, aches & pains. For example, it helps in the treatment of allergies, skin conditions and asthma. It can also help ex-smokers to kick-start the healing processes necessary after years of damage to the lungs and it is an effective infertility treatment, as it quick, non-intrusive, successful and costs a fraction of the price of I.V.F.
Hypnoanalysis or Regression Therapy is a very powerful and effective tool used to discover the original cause of a psychological or emotional problem. It is a fast-track way of treating symptoms which would, with other forms of analysis, take years to resolve. In the same way that every problem has its own solution – each and every symptom must have a cause. Once the root of the problem is identified and dealt with, the symptoms permanently disappear. Anxiety, nervous disorders, allergies, phobias of all kinds, sexual problems, IBS, stress, insomnia and emotional symptoms all lend themselves to this type of therapy.
Past-life Regression Therapy – refer to the Past life regression page for more information.
Hypnotic Anaesthesia involves the use of hypnosis for pain control. Its use in surgical operations in place of anaesthesia is invaluable for people who are allergic to anaesthetics or who are extremely frail. Hypnosis can have an important role to play in enabling them to undergo surgery without pain.
The use of hypnosis in surgery dates back to the days before anaesthetics. The first documented case in 1829 is of a mastectomy performed by Jules Cloquet in
The state of hypnosis in which facilitates operation in this way is now known as the "
There are many advantages of using this kind of hypnosis in surgery and they include: decreased anxiety and fear before the operation on the part of the patient; there are no toxic side effects or nausea; and it has beneficial effects on post-operative pain and recovery.
Suggestion Therapy instills new beliefs in the subconscious mind to cause permanent changes in behaviour and thought processes. It is extremely effective in controlling nerves and encouraging confidence and calmness during moments of anxiety or stress. It is effective with most problems such as fear of flying, nail-biting, public speaking, stammering, sports performance, exam nerves, relaxation, depression and much more.
Visualisation Therapy is a way of reaching and changing self-images and beliefs about the self. It is used to promote, physical, emotional and mental health by imagining positive and desired outcomes to specific situations. This type of therapy can de-sensitise triggers for cravings, or to rehearse preferred behaviour, for example, drug refusal scenarios or a telephone conversation without stammering etc. It can also help with personal growth and manages underlying emotional distress, trauma and depression. Additionally, visualisation therapy forms part of HypnoHealing and encourages the sub-conscious mind to heal specific body areas quicker, for example the skin following a skin condition such as psorisis or prickily heat etc.
Fantasy Therapy or Guided Imagery is an extremely useful tool to use to elicit information from the sub-conscious mind indirectly and it can even desensitize a client from negative thoughts, emotions or memories. It is also useful during HypnoHealing as the imagery prompts the sub-conscious mind into actions it would not necessarily perform automatically or as intensely. For example, the Protective Bubble guided imagery is one specifically designed for therapists to use to protect themselves from therapy burn out, ensuring that they do not absorb negative energies from others. This technique also helps clients who suffer abuse in the home, whether it’s physical from a partner of whether it is emotional from teenaged children.
Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) is concerned with how a person’s thought processes can change their physiological state. It presents a collection of procedures that can be used to alter subconscious thought programs and behaviour patterns. It is very useful in the treatment of phobias, depression, stress, anxiety, smoking cessation, weight loss and much more.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) attempts to control erroneous thought patterns that lead to damaging behaviors. It can help individuals change the way they think (called “cognitive restructuring”) and behave in certain situations. Cognitive behavior therapy is a widely accepted therapy that can be used to treat any uncomfortable or destructive habits or practices. It is commonly used to treat addictions, eating disorders, mood swings, stress, relationship difficulties, insomnia, anger, and other conditions.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is based on the belief that "the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body''s energy system." and has been described as an emotional form of acupuncture without using needles. Instead, certain meridian points are stimulated by tapping or massage with the fingertips while the client is "tuned in" to the problem.
EFT has been successfully applied to treat a wide range of emotional problems and issues, including anxiety, fears, phobias, trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, grief, anger, guilt, etc. It has also been applied to enhance performance and improve relationships. In relationships, EFT can help us by reducing the emotional upsets towards our partner, many of which have their origins in our past. Using EFT, couples can overcome many of the barriers to friendship and closeness.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about EFT is that anyone can learn this approach and use it to help themselves. While some problems may require persistence with the technique over a period of time, and some may need a session of hypnotherapy to complete the process, many people (including children) can learn EFT and apply it successfully to their general problems and stresses of living.
Inner Child Work - We all have, with in us, an Inner Child, and yet for those who have been abused in childhood, that inner child is very often hurt and frightened. Inner Child therapy, is a means by which we can start to learn to love ourselves, feel safer within and reduce any nightmares in order to recover from the childhood abuse, whether, physical, sexual, psychological or emotional.
I am aware that these types of experiences in childhood are not ones that clients necessarily want to remember and so I ensure that the client does not ''relive'' the experiences, there is absolutely no need to dredge up the past in this way or cause unnecessary upset or stress. Instead I ensure the inner child work is quick and effective so that they can change their present day behaviors.
Inner child therapy is very helpful when dealing with self-harming behaviours and comfort eating, it can also help an individual to understand any disassociative tendencies, it can resolve grief from childhood related to bereavement, hospitalisation or divorce and it can help with control issues, obsessive compulsive disorders and much more.
Angelic Healing - Clients who are suffering from physical pain or illness benefit greatly from this form of spirtual healing. Negative or heavy energies are identified in the aura and are removed and replaced with positive, loving, healing energy.
Chakra Balancing – The chakras are the energy centres of your body. We all use the seven main chakras, although some (for example, those who are more spiritually enlightened) may use more than seven. These swirling vortexes regulate the energy flow throughout our bodies. These energy centres open and close depending on what we are feeling and thinking. They are an integral part of our life force, keeping our whole mind and body working together. They are located at different points throughout the physical body and all of your senses, feelings and experiences are connected to a specific chakra. When you are feeling stressed the chakra can become unbalanced and manifest as a physical illness in your physical body. For your mind, emotions and physical body to be working in total harmony, the chakras need to be spinning at the correct frequency. To become healthy again or to regain and maintain a healthy balance these chakras need to be balanced from time to time.
Having a perfectly balanced and aligned chakra system has an amazing effect on all aspects of your life. You will feel totally alive, full of energy and able to cope with everything that life brings to you. There are many methods you can use to balance the chakras and I use Angelic Healing and crystals with Guided Meditations. These beautiful meditations can also be enjoyed at home with one of my CDs – chose from stress busting; confidence building; and a wide range of angelic meditations to help you completely relax, heal and keep that healthy balance.
